Technical Information
The Institute Archives collection is divided into a digital document collection and a photo collection. The software used for the storage of digital documents is DSpace, for the photo collection it is Piwigo.
DSpace, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DSpace, is an open source repository software package for digital archives systems. It facilitates long-term storage, access and preservation of digital content. Meta data, access and related information are kept in a relational database. For the Archives, DSpace version 5.1 is used. The collected data have been divided into ten communities and these communities are further divided into sub-communities and collections.
Piwigo, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piwigo, is an open source photo gallery software. For the Archives, Piwigo version 2.10.1 is used. In the Archives set-up, the Piwigo directory follows the one used in DSpace, as far as meaningful. There are additional folders in Piwigo which do not have a matching collection in DSpace (eg. IIT Mandi Snapshot).
