Welcome to Central Library, IIT Mandi, a very special place in the IIT Campus with its rich collection of books and journals in the field of Engineering, Science & Technology and related areas. The library stands as a unique Knowledge Centre that offers access to essential and specialized information resources and services to meet the growing information needs of its users. The library currently houses over 59743 books (24208 print books & 35535 E-books) and provides access to more than 49,700 e-resources. Our mission is to enhance and enable discovery through the effective utilization of information resources.

The institute library is fully automated using the Open Source library Management Software KOHA. All documents are RFID enabled, and the circulation of books is also automated. The library has introduced various innovative services, including Mobile app-based services, CAS/SDI services, etc. Online renewal of books has been introduced recently. By using Web OPAC, users can check their borrowing details.

               Currently, three different units of the library are operational at two separate campuses: South Campus and North Campus. Details of these libraries are given below:

1.               Central Library @ North Campus (A16 Building)

The Maximum collection pertaining to the print books is available within this unit. Almost all collections related to the B.Tech course subjects, except Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology, are available within this building for circulation purposes. A16 is a big building having three floors. The floor plan is divided based on the services/facilities being provided by us in the following way:

Ground FloorMain reception area having facility of:

·        Property Racks – to keep the personal belongings of the users

·        OPAC Searching

·        Circulation Counter

·        Xerox facility

·        Display rack for new arrivals of print books

·        Toilet for Staff members

·        Pantry

·        Reading rooms – having a facility of a Low voice discussion area

First Floor:

·        Reading room facility

·        Reference Books Section

·        Toilets for users (Male, Female)

·        Drinking Water facility

·        Electric Panel room

·        UPS room

·        Xerox facility

·        Library Store Room

Second Floor:

·        Main Stack area – Books kept for circulation

·        OPAC Searching

·        Reading room facility

·        Dy. Librarians’ room

·        Room for Books-in-process

2.               Library @ South Campus (A5 Building – First Floor)

A Book Circulation facility, along with a Reading room with almost 72 seats, is available within this section. Collection pertaining to the PG courses is available for circulation here. Xerox and scanning facilities are also available on a payment basis.

3.               Satellite Library and Archive Section @ North Campus (A9 Building – IIIrd Floor)

The Satellite Library features a low-voice discussion reading room with a single-copy collection for reference and a collection of religious books. Hard copies of the Institute's Theses are also available in this section.
